This particular Chinese Swadesh is chock full of cheesecake, some of it borderline porn. The first 40 words are pretty much either cheesecake or Chinese characters.
This time I also have a graphic warning: #187 烂 (rotten) is a picture of some poor guy with his right eye gouged out.
Dream interpretation… what a weird thing to specialize in SEO trolling. Anyway, this particular Swadesh grid is significant in that #179 año was the first time an image was returned that referred to the actual correct year.
Looks like yandex.ru updated their search interface a little bit. Nothing too weird on the returns, except the Russian list always tends towards new and interesting images.
A new French Swadesh. Not a huge amount of difference, but where there was the returns seemed more fresh than normal. One of those qualitative holistic feelings I got while compiling this one.
Back around again to the English Swadesh. Nothing too weird to report, although it still slays me that dream interpretation is the hook of choice for SEO website.
A couple days late, but no matter. Another MacOS Finder bug cropped up when I tried to drag and drop #110 قتل (to kill) and the entire desktop crashed and reverted to a default sort.
Another Chinese Swadesh, and another round of very interesting returns. My faves this time are a picture of a girl farting ocher dust for #109 死 (to die), Ronald McDonald about to get it on in a motel for #117 搔 (to scratch), a giraffe getting its spots blown off for #163 风 (wind), and, finally, some basic bare boobies (a first) for #183 新 (new).
Nothing too out of the ordinary for this Spanish update.
Russian up again, and this time we have a winner for the Grand Porn Prize! Amazingly enough, none of the first GIS returns on any of the Swadesh lists have been actual porn — although there have been adult-themed returns — until now, #95 соса́ть (to suck), which is pretty logical and somewhat surprising that it took 39 weeks for this to happen.
yandex.ru also seemed to be serving up some very different results this time around, which was borne out when I compared it with the last Russian grid.
